Question #88. Is There a Connection Between Homosexuality and Evolution?

     It is a common practice of Morris and other young earth creationists to blame society's ills upon evolution.  This is also true of the issue of homosexuality.

     It is clear from the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, that homosexuality is wrong.  According to the Bible, people practiced homosexuality thousands of years ago.  The Bible was written thousands of years before the theory of evolution was coined.  Since homosexuality outdates evolution by thousands of years, how could evolutionism cause homosexuality?

        Many homosexuals will appeal to evolution principles as a crutch to support their lifestyle.  They say they were "born gay", or they are genetically inclined to homosexuality through natural selection.  They are using a readily available tool to argue for their lifestyle.  I see no reason to suspect that evolution itself supports their claims. 

     Morris notes that nearly all homosexual leaders are evolutionists.  I would agree with this.  However, this does not mean that evolution causes homosexuality.  They are merely using a readily available tool to emotionally support their sinful practices. 

     It should also be noted that it may be a valid argument that people are genetically inclined toward homosexuality.   Adam was a perfect man, genetically speaking, as the first human.   Since we live in a fallen world, we have to live with Adam's sin, and its consequences.  One of those may be genetic mutations.  Through harmful genetic mutations, some people may be more prone to abnormal sexual behavior.
