Dr. John's Q&A #56

Was There Really an Ice Age?

This question was published in Dr. John's Q&A by John Morris in 1993.  Morris claims that there was indeed an ice age, however, he believes there was only one. The real issue for old earth creationists is how many ice ages there were.  The young earth model requires a single ice age, no matter how convincing the evidence is for multiple ice ages.  This leads Morris to claim that "the evidence for multiple ice ages is poor."  In reality, the evidence is excellent.  For more on ice ages, see our Ice Age article section.

Morris spends the bulk of this answer on his young earth model.  One key ingredient is extensive volcanism.  However, the young earth model with its volcanism does not take into account the fact that volcanoes emit a lot of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.  It has been calculated, based on the young earth model, that the earth would have been too hot for Noah and his family after the flood, and they would basically have been roasted to death.  See Carbon Dioxide and the Flood.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.  Click here for more.

Are you a Christian who believes in young earth creationism?  Now that we have shown the many difficulties of the young earth creation science model in this and many other articles, how does this impact your Christian life?  If you are a young-earth creationism believer, click here.
