This article is a transcript of an audio tape1

The purpose of this tape was to teach teachers and students that creation was a valid alternative to evolution.  It was to be advertised and distributed to biology teachers in Australia, by the Creation Science Association, the publisher of Ex Nihilo magazine.  The tape is by Carl Wieland.

Naturally, it makes no allowance for Theistic Evolution, despite the fact that you can be a Christian, and believe in evolution.  The article argues against three myths.

First, the myth that all scientists are evolutionists.  I agree, not all scientists, even non-Christian ones, are evolutionists.

Second, the myth that evolution is a fact of science.  Evolution is a theory...and a fact.  For more on this, click here.

Third, he says that "Evolution is a scientific idea, but creation is a purely religious idea and therefore should not be taught in science classes."  From this so-called myth, he goes on into a lengthy discussion on biology and evolution.  This article will not provide specific rebuttals to his claims  (after all, apparently the biology teachers in the public schools in Australia did not listen, since evolution reigns supreme).

As a progressive creationist, I agree with Wieland that natural evolution did not occur.  However, I do believe in the possibility of theistic evolution...after all, if God is involved in the evolutionary process, all things are possible.  Thus, disputes over individual items in evolutionary theory are a moot point.  Any problems Wieland brings up disappear in light of God's guiding hand upon evolution.

Unfortunately, he does not argue from geology, which is the main focus of Old Earth Ministries.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.  Click here for more.

Are you a Christian who believes in young earth creationism?  Now that we have shown the many difficulties of the young earth creation science model in this and many other articles, how does this impact your Christian life?  If you are a young earth creationism believer, click here.
