X121:  Tornadoes in junkyards do not build things

Edited by Greg Neyman

Argument:

Order does not spontaneously appear from disorder.  A tornado passing through a junkyard would not assemble a 747, even if all the required parts were present unassembled

Source:  Hoyle, Fred, 1983.  The Intelligent Universe, pages 18-19

Response:

  1. The argument is irrelevant to evolution.  Evolution does not assemble from individual parts, but works through the modification to existing parts.  Order can result from the evolutionary process

  2. Order does appear from disorder.  A tornado is one example

  3. With God guiding the evolutionary process, anything is possible.  God could guide the simple into a more complex order
