N4311:  The geologic column was deposited by the Flood

Edited by Greg Neyman

Argument:

The geologic column was deposited by the Flood

Source:  Numerous sources

Response:

  1. Limestones could not have formed within the short time frame (1 year) of the Flood

  2. Desert sandstones formed right in the middle of Noah's Flood (Coconino Sandstone, Navajo Sandstone, etc).  Wind-blown sand cannot accumulate on a globe filled with water

  3. Varves show that millions of years of deposition has occurred (see G3621:  Varves can form in less than a year)

  4. Mud cracks are formed when surface mud dries and cracks.  How could there be multiple dry periods during the middle of Noah's Flood, when all the world was supposed to be underwater

  5. Footprints of land-dwelling dinosaurs and other creatures were made in the middle of Noah's Flood, again at a time that the whole world was supposed to be underwater

  6. Other surface features also go against the young earth model, such as raindrop impressions, evaporite deposits, and meteor craters
