G1212:  Vollosovitch and Dima mammoths yielded inconsistent C-14 dates

Edited by Greg Neyman

Argument:

Carbon dating from frozen mammoth carcasses revealed that different parts of the same mammoth dated many thousands of years apart

Source:   Brown, Walt, 2001. In the beginning: Compelling evidence for creation and the Flood (7th ed.) Center for Scientific Creation. http://www.creationscience.com/onlinebook/FrozenMammoths8.html
Hovind, Kent, n.d. Doesn't carbon dating or potassium argon dating prove the Earth is millions of years old? www.drdino.com/QandA/index.jsp?varFolder=CreationEvolution&varPage=CarbonPotassiumargondating.jsp

Response:

  1. Analysis of the sources reveal that the dates come from different mammoths

  2. In one case, a date is known to be invalid because the hide was soaked in glycerin.  The YEC claimants still quoted the date

  3. A review of the Dima mammoth reveals all the dates were consistent.  The source of the young earth claims for the bad dates is unknown
