D33:  Finding a live plesiosaur would prove the earth is young

Edited by Greg Neyman

Argument:

If a live plesiosaur were found, it would prove that the earth is young

Source:   Inferred from multiple sources

Response:

  1. Finding a live plesiosaur would prove that they did not go extinct millions of years ago

  2. A live plesiosaur has no correlation with the age of the earth.  The beast itself could not be older than 100-200 years, so claiming that the earth is young based on a 100 year old creature is nonsense

  3. Finding a live plesiosaur would lead young earth creationists to make the "living fossil" claim.  For more on this fallacy, see Living Fossils
