Creation Moments

The Brain and our Health

13 March 2006

The 13 March 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses the human brain and our health.

The author gives the example of how our health is affected by our brain.   Using hormones, the brain can direct immune cells to attack invasive organisms or objects.  One drawback to this system is that our stress level affects the efficiency of this process.  The author goes on to explain macrophages, large amoeba-like cells that rebuild injured tissue and destroy bacteria.  Our stress level also affects these as well.

The author ends with a word of caution.  Some people who are into the New Age mentality have used these findings to support their ideas about medicine and health.  The author rightly states that these findings glorify our Creator.

As Christians we should thank God for the way He designed our bodies to fight disease and infection.  However, for the theistic evolutionist, there is no problem explaining the evolution of these features within the context of God guiding evolution.  I suspect that even atheistic evolution would not have a problem explaining how these features evolved.

This is typical of Creation Moments claims.  It is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type emotional argument.  Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
