The 6 January 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses language.

The author tells about how humans are uniquely constructed for language.  We are the only ones (besides birds) who have vocal tracts.  Language also requires a unique arrangement of the brain to control language.

The Creation Moments author says that Adam learned the first language from God, who regularly spoke with Adam.  As a Christian, I agree that we are uniquely suited for language, and I agree that we all owe this ability to our Creator.

However, using such an argument to prove that "God did it" is a fruitless exercise.  Evolutionists have studied the origins of language, and have no problems coming up with explanations for language.

As Christians we should thank God for giving us the ability to communicate through language.  However, this claim is typical of Creation Moments claims.  It is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type emotional argument (this is wonderful...God must have done it).  Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
